In the bottom of the third inning, Archbishop Moeller went back into the lead after Maschinot doubled down the right field line, A Maybury singled to left field, and Ponatoski grounded out, each scoring one run.

Mason Comet Varsity 2026 collected 13 hits and Fairfield Varsity Indians had 16 in the high-scoring affair.

Mason Comet Varsity 2026 got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Brooklyn Adkins tripled, scoring two runs, and Claire Mickelson singled, scoring one run.

Mason Comet Varsity 2026 added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Becca Zellner hit a sacrifice fly, and Morgan McBrayer grounded out, each scoring one run.

Mason Comet Varsity 2026 rallied to top Big Blue Varsity 8-6 on Wednesday at Mason High School. Mason Comet Varsity 2026 trailed by as many as four runs during the game.

Avery Clayton collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Clayton doubled in the first inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

An error put Big Blue Varsity on the board in the top of the first.

Audrey Renners singled  following a 6-pitch at-bat, which helped Mason Comet Varsity 2026 tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

In the top of the third, Big Blue Varsity broke up the tie when Peyton Eversole singled, scoring two runs. Then a ground out by Sierra Hoyte followed to extend the lead to 4-1.

Mason Varsity Green Tennis finlly opened their 2026 season on Monday, 4/6,  beating Walnut Hills 5-0. It was a quality first win of the season against a good Walnut team.

The Comets were led at first singles by Janek Teply, who 6-0,6-3. Shreyas Mantha and Varun Ashok took victories at 2nd and 3rd singles. The doubles were strong, led at 1st doubles by Evan Wei and Sean Fu. Second doubles took a 6-0,6-0 victory led by Leo Qin and Ayush Kardile.

4/7 Princeton won 5-0 2-0 1-0

Comet Boys Tennis defeated Princeton 5-0 on Tuesday, 4/7. Mason was led by Sean Fu at 1st singles today. Sean Fu, Arjun Karthikeyan, and Nihal Nair all had quality wins at singles today for the Comets. Shreyas Mantha and Varun Ashok won decisively at 1st doubles today 6-0, 6-0. Ryan Buckingham and Fran Gnoni had a resounding victory at 2nd doubles.

The Comets are 2-0 to start the season and have a big match against Indian Hill, TODAY, Wednesday, 4/8. The team is at Colerain on Thursday.

Comet Boys Tennis fell in a very close 2-3 match against Indian Hill on Wednesday. Ayush Kardile and Leo Qin brought the energy and gave us a huge win at 2nd doubles. Shreyas Mantha won decisively at 3rd singles.

 

4/9 @ Colerain won 5-0 3-1 2-0

Mason Tennis defeated Colerain 5-0 on Thursday with the best weather of the season thus far. Arjun Karthikeyan led the way for the Comets today at first singles with a quality win. Nihal Nair and Fran Gnoni followed suit at 2nd and 3rd singles. Our doubles team were very strong today with their performance. Ryan Buckingham and Varun Ashok led the way at 1st doubles and Vibe Sampath and Jackson Bradley finished the day with a win at 2nd doubles.

Up next for Mason (3-1, 2-0) is a matchup vs. the Elks of Centerville, TODAY, Friday, 4/10.

On Saturday, the Comets visit ACT Orange in Columbus.

Mason Boys Tennis landed a big 4-1 win against Centerville on Friday, 4/10. Greg Bernadsky, Janek Teply, and Shreyas Mantha all had resounding victories at singles today. Janek Teply demonstrated great leadership today, energizing and helping his teammates along the way.

The Comets had very competitive and tight matches at doubles. Leo Qin and Ayush Kardile took the match in a super-tiebreaker winning 14-12. Overall, it was a great way to close out a week of tennis in Cincinnati.

 

4/11 @ Pepper Pike Orange in Columbus won 3-2 5-1 2-0
The Comets traveled up to Columbus Saturday morning to play Pepper Pike Orange out of Cleveland. Both teams won state titles the previous season in Division I and II. 

The Comets took home a close 3-2 victory. Evan Wei set the tone with some very good tennis at 3rd singles, putting the Comets on the board. At second doubles, Ryan Buckingham and Varun Ashok had a huge comeback victory, saving multiple match points and winning in a 3rd set tiebreak. Janek Teply gave the Comets the win at 1st singles, giving it his all and battling for three hours on the court. It was a very competitive match, and a great representation of tennis in the state of Ohio. 

 


The Comets (5-1, 2-0) have a huge match against Sycamore, TODAY, Monday, 4/13. They would love to see a huge crowd turnout to the match.

The Comets took home a 4-1 win on Monday against their GMC rival Sycamore. Greg Bernadsky led the Comets today with a straight set victory at 1st singles. Janek Teply played some of his best tennis all season with a commanding win at 2nd singles. Shreyas Mantha landed a huge win after a long and physical match at 3rd singles.

Ayush Kardile and Leo Qin led the way at 2nd doubles with a quality win in straight sets. The conditions were not easy, and the rivalry showed between the two teams. A big GMC victory for the Comets, but plenty of tennis still left to be played.

The Comet Boys Tennis team took home a 5-0 win against Fairfield on Thursday, 4/16. Evan Wei had a great win at 1st singles today, taking the match home with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Sean Fu won the Comets 2nd singles with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Francisco Gnoni earned the singles sweep for the Comets with a 6-0, 6-4 victory.

Both of our doubles teams played excellent tennis. Leo Qin and Varun Ashok won their match 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles, while Ryan Buckingham and Arjun Karthikeyan won their match 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles - completing a doubles sweep!

The Comets (7-1, 5-0) will be traveling up to Columbus again on Saturday to play Bexley and Upper Arlington.

The Comets defeated Bexley 4-1 in their first match. Janek Teply had a huge win at 1st singles against one of the top players in Ohio. He led the Comets in both matches. Leo Qin picked up a win at 3rd singles, and our doubles teams both picked up commanding wins. Evan Wei and Sean Fu took the court at 1st doubles, and Varun Ashok and Ryan Buckingham took the court at 2nd doubles. 


The Comets took home a major victory in their second match against Upper Arlington. Janek Teply won in straight sets at 1st singles. Shreyas Mantha had a huge comeback victory after losing the first set at 2nd singles, and Varun Ashok gave the Comets the match win at 3rd singles. It was close and competitive battle, and it resulted in a huge win. The Comets went 3-0 overall in their travels up to Columbus this season. That concludes all of the traveling for the Comets this season.

MONDAY, 4/20

The Comets took home their state team match against Beavercreek. Greg Bernadsky led the way at 1st singles and got the Comets on the board. Shreyas Mantha rode the momentum from his match Saturday and took home another big win at 3rd singles. The first doubles duo of Varun Ashok and Ryan Buckingham capped off the match for Mason. The Comets are moving on to the next round of team state with a trip up to Miamisburg. The date of the match has not been set yet.

T he Comets defeat the Highlanders 5-0. Leo Qin, Evan Wei, and Varun Ashok all had quality wins at singles today. Ryan Buckingham and Arjun Karthikeyan won a huge match at first doubles for the Comets, playing some very clutch tennis. Nihal Nair and Fran Gnoni took care of business at second doubles.

Mason Boys Tennis (12-1, 6-0) have a huge match against Springboro, TODAY, Wednesday, 4/22.

The Comets defeated Springboro 5-0 on Wednesday, 4/22. This was one of the best team performances all season for the Comets. Greg Bernadsky led the way at 1st singles with a quality win. Janek Teply continues to roll at 2nd singles for the Comets.

Shreyas Mantha completed the singles sweep Mason at 3rd singles. Evan Wei and Sean Fu won a big match at 1st doubles and played clutch tennis. Leo Qin and Varun Ashok finished the sweep for the Comets at 2nd doubles.

The Comets took home another 4-1 GMC victory against the Lakota West Firebirds on Thursday, 4/23. Shreyas Mantha had a strong performance at 1st singles for the Comets, winning 6-1, 6-0.

Leo Qin and Evan Wei took home 6-0, 6-0 victories at 2nd and 3rd singles to complete the singles sweep. Sean Fu and Varun Ashok led the way at doubles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Ryan Buckingham and Arjun Karthikeyan completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at 2nd doubles.

The Comets (14-1, 7-0) have a big matchup on Saturday against Louisville St. X at home.

3/18 Milford won 25-17, 25-27, 25-23, 25-13 2-2 0-0 On Wednesday, March 18th Mason beat Milford in 4 sets. Nico Marietta played exceptionally well with 9 kills and Logan Zemberi had 17 digs.  Scores were: 25-17, 25-27, 25-23, 25-13.
3/20 Taylor won  25-9, 25-11, 25-9 3-2 0-0 On Friday March 20th, Mason beat Taylor High School in 3 sets. Zach Nurre had the game winning kill. Vance Chaney had 7 kills. Scores were:  25-9, 25-11, 25-9.
3/27 @ West Clermont won 25-14, 25-13, 25-14 4-2 0-0

On Friday March 27th, Mason defeated West Clermont in 3 sets. Brian Miller had 10 kills, Aiden Moore had 7 kills, and Declan Mulvin had 11 assists and 2 kills.  Scores were: 25-14, 25-13, 25-14.

The Varsity A and B Boys track teams competed in their first two outdoor meets this past week: The Little Miami April Fools Tri-Meet was on Wednesday, April 1 and Edgewood Invite on Thursday, April 2. Athletes shook off the rust coming back from spring break and represented our team and school well. 


The boys team scored 191 total points at Little Miami. At Edgewood, the boys scored 222.5 points to take 1st place of 10 teams.

The MHS Varsity Boys and Girls Track and Field teams competed at the Centerville Relays on Friday, April 17th. The teams competed in lots of unique relays and interesting events. It was a winning night for both teams. The boys took first place with 85 points and the girls took first place with 101.5 points.

Mason Boys LAX split two matches to open their 2026 season, falling to Moeller 12–7 on Wednesday, 3/25, before earning an 11–7 win over Lakota East on Thursday, 3/26.

In the Moeller matchup, Mason saw balanced scoring from Jacob Lupinski and Cameron Simmons with two goals each, while Aiden Nyhuis added two goals and an assist. Alex Nagel recorded one goal and three assists, and Tyler Lupinski tallied four assists. Spencer Fielden led the defense with six ground balls and four caused turnovers, and Chase Harphold made eight saves in goal.

 


3/26 East won 11-7 1-1 0-0

Mason responded with an 11–7 victory over Lakota East behind a seven-point performance from Jacob Lupinski (3G, 4A). Cameron Simmons added two goals and an assist, while Suvan Guduru scored twice. Aiden Nyhuis and Jeremy Perrin each had a goal and an assist, and Henry Williamson added a goal. Mason controlled possession with a 36–19 ground ball advantage, with Spencer Fielden and Jonathan Balsly leading the defensive effort.

3/31 Oak Hills won 11-4 2-1 1-0

Mason earned a dominant 11–4 victory over Oak Hills on Tuesday, 3/31 behind a balanced offensive effort and strong defensive play. Jacob Lupinski, Henry Williamson, Cameron Simmons, and Aiden Nyhuis each scored two goals to lead the Comets’ attack.

Spencer Fielden anchored the defense with a game-high seven ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Chase Harphold recorded 10 saves in goal to limit the Oak Hills offense, helping Mason maintain momentum across all four quarters.

Mason travels to Hudson on Saturday to take on the Explorers.

Mason Boys LAX traveled to Hudson on Saturday and came home with a 10-6 win. A balanced offensive effort and steady defense were the keys to the victory. Tyler Lupinski and Aiden Nyhuis led the attack, combining for eight goals and 3 assists. Jacob Lupinski and Cameron Simmons each contributed a goal to help the Comets top the Explorers. 

Defensively, Spencer Fielden helped set the tone with 2 caused turnovers, and Chase Harphold delivered a solid performance in goal with 11 saves to limit Hudson’s scoring opportunities. Mason maintained composure throughout the contest and pulled away in the second half to secure the win.

The victory provides momentum for the Comets heading into a challenging week with a road matchup at Lakota West on Thursday followed by a trip to Indianapolis Cathedral on Saturday.

Last Thursday, Mason traveled to Lakota West and delivered a dominant 12–2 win, setting the tone early with a balanced offensive attack. Jacob Lupinski and Carter Rader each scored three goals, while Cameron Simmons added two. Tyler Lupinski contributed one goal and three assists, and Aiden Nyhuis finished with a goal and an assist. Defensively, Spencer Fielden led the effort with seven ground balls and a caused turnover as Mason controlled possession throughout.

 

4/11 @ Indy Cathedralwon lost 11-9 4-2 3-0

The Comets traveled to Indianapolis Cathedral to take on the Irish on Saturday, 4/11, which ended in a competitive 11-9 loss for the Comets. Aiden Nyhuis led the offense with four goals and an assist, while Tyler Lupinski added three goals. Jacob Lupinski recorded a goal and an assist, and Cameron Simmons also contributed a goal. Defensively, Spencer Fielden added two caused turnovers, and Chase Harphold recorded a career-high 13 saves in a strong performance in goal.

Mason is 3-0 in GMC conference play and 4-2 overall. The Comets take on Sycamore at home on Tuesday.

Tyler Lupinski Scores 100th Career Goal Against Sycamore

Mason earned a commanding 14–5 win over Sycamore on Tuesday night, highlighted by Tyler Lupinski reaching a major milestone with his 100th career goal. Lupinski led the offense with five goals and an assist, while Aiden Nyhuis and Henry Williamson each contributed 2 goals, and Jacob Lupinski contributed two goals and 3 assists as Mason’s balanced attack powered an early lead and steady control throughout the game.

Defensively, Spencer Fielden anchored the unit with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, helping Mason control possession. Chase Harphold added eight saves in goal to limit Sycamore’s opportunities.

The Comets remain undefeated in the GMC and improve to 5–2 overall. Mason travels to Olentangy Liberty on Saturday as they continue their strong season.

Mason dropped a hard-fought 13–11 contest on the road at Olentangy Liberty on Thusday 4/16 in a competitive back-and-forth matchup.

Tyler Lupinski and Jacob Lupinski each led the offense with three goals, while Henry Williamson added two. Aiden Nyhuis contributed two goals, and Carter Rader added a goal and three assists to support the attack. Mason showed resilience throughout, responding with a strong third quarter to close the gap and keep the game within reach.

Defensively, Spencer Fielden led the effort with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers, while Chase Harphold recorded seven saves in goal. Despite forcing 11 turnovers and creating multiple extra-man opportunities, Mason was unable to overcome Liberty’s advantage at the faceoff X.

The Comets competed throughout and continue to build momentum as they move deeper into their schedule.

Mason Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Jeff Bumiller earned his 100th career win on Tuesday with a defeat 13-7 of Lakota East. Bumiller has been at the Comet helm since the 2019 season with an overall record of 100 wins and just 31 losses. Since becoming a GMC sport in the 2019 season, Mason has dominated the GMC winning the title winning four outright championships (40-0 since 2022) and sharing the trophy twice (2021-2019). Mason has been the Regional Runner-up the past three consecutive seasons. Bumiller's Comets are 7-3 overall and 6-0 in the GMC so far in 2026.

The Comets used a balanced offensive effort to pull away, led by Tyler Lupinski and Aiden Nyhuis with four goals each. Jacob Lupinski added three goals and an assist, while Carter Rader contributed a goal and an assist. Mason built momentum throughout the game, finishing with a five-goal fourth quarter to secure the win.

Defensively, Spencer Fielden led the effort with five ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Jonathan Balsly added two caused turnovers. Chase Harphold recorded seven saves in goal as Mason limited Lakota East’s opportunities down the stretch.

The win keeps Mason undefeated in GMC play and highlights a milestone moment for the program under Coach Bumiller’s leadership.

In our season opener at Bellbrook, we won 16-3. We had six different goal scorers led by Kirsten Hurr with 7G/2A and 10 draw controls, Elle Riva with 3G, and Kate Ryder and Gabby Sell with 2G each. Katie Halligan had 3A. Freshman MJ Riva got her first Varsity goal.
3/18 Beavercreek won 13-4     In our home opener vs. Beavercreek, we again had great offensive balance with seven different goal scorers in a 13-6 win. Gabby Sell lead the team with 4G/1A, Kirsten Hurr had 3G/1A and 7 draw controls, Addie Lupinski added 2G, and Katie Halligan had 1G/2A. Sammy Berold had 7 saves in goal.
3/24 @ Fairfield won 20-3    
During Spring Break, we beat Fairfield 20-3 with eight different goal scorers.  Kirsten Hurr had 6G and 17 draw controls, Gabby Sell had 5G, Elle Riva had 3G, Addie Lupinski had 1G/3A, Maggie Schumm had 2G, and Emily Nurre and Katie Halligan each had 1G/3A.

3/26 @ East won 15-11 4-0  

 

We finished Spring Break with a win at Lakota East, 15-11.  Once again, we had eight different goal scorers led by Kirsten Hurr with 5G/1A and 6 draw controls, Addie Lupinski with 1G/3A, Emily Nurre with 2G/2A, Maggie Schumm with 2G/1A, and Katie Halligan with 1G/2A.  Freshman Evelyn Bahm added 2G and 3 draw controls.

The Spring Break games were tough to manage with a total of 14 girls out for one or both games.  The girls were beat up by the end of the week, most having to play 6 quarters on both game days.  Fairfield was aggressive and physical. East was physical and it was 80 degrees.  

 


This week, we head to Oak Hills on Tuesday and to Centerville on Thursday, then we’ll have three home games the week of April 6th.

The Comets Girls LAX team defeated Oak Hills Tuesday night 25-3 with nine different goal scorers to move to 5-0 on the season.  Kirsten Hurr had 6G, 7 draw controls, 3 ground balls, and 3 caused turnovers; Maggie Schumm had 4G; Emily Nurre had 2G/3A; Katie Halligan had 2G/4A; Evelyn Bahm had 3G/1A; Elle Riva had 2G/2A; Megan Bangs had 2G/1A; and Addie Lupinski and Gabby Sell had 2G each.

Mason controlled possession with a huge advantage at the draw circle and limited turnovers, and our defense played great.

Despite a great team effort, we came up short Thursday, 4/2, losing 13-12 to Centerville on the road for our first loss of the season. Gabby Sell had 4G, Kirsten Hurr had 3G, Evelyn Bahm and Elle Riva each had 2G, and Addie Lupinski added 1G. Katie Halligan had 4A.

Mason Girls LAX (5-1, 3-0) returns to action next week with three home games on Monday (Little Miami), Tuesday (Princeton), and Thursday (Lakota West).
4/6 Little Miami won 16-9 6-1 3-0

On Monday night, Mason Girls LAX defeated Little Miami 16-9. On a night when the Comets didn't play their best, they still found a way to win. Elle Riva had a huge game offensively, scoring 7 goals. Kirsten Hurr added 6G/1A, 3 ground balls, 2 caused turnovers, and 8 draw control wins. Katie Halligan continued to coordinate our offensive, ending the night with 6 assists. Megan Bangs, Gabby Sell, and Evelyn Bahm each added a goal. Sammy Berold had 11 saves in goal.

4/7 Princeton won 19-1 7-1 4-0

On Tuesday night, 4/7, the Comets routed Princeton at home 19-1 with 13 different goal scorers, moving us to 7-1 on the season. Kirsten Hurr had 4G, Megan Bangs had 2G/2A, and Evelyn Bahm and MJ Riva each had 2G. Maggie Schumm added 1G/3A. Newcomer Preena Mehta, a senior, had her first career goal. 

Next, Mason (7-1, 4-0) will host Lakota West on Thursday, 4/9.

4/9 West won 11-6 8-1 5-0

Girls Lacrosse took down Lakota West at home on Thursday by a score of 11-6 keeping their GMC record perfect through 5 games. No details of the match have been made available yet.

The Comets (8-1, 5-0) will visit Sycamore on Tuesday, 4/14.

4/14 @ Sycamore lost 13-6 8-2 5-1

Mason Girls LAX suffered their first GMC loss of the season at Sycamore on Tuesday by a 13-6 final. No details have been provided.

Next for Mason (8-2, 5-1) is a home match versus Fairfield on Thursday, 4/16.

4/16 Fairfield won 20-3 9-2 6-1

The Comets bounced back from their first conference loss earlier in the week in a big way, soundly defeating Fairfield on Thursday, 20-3. The team dominated on the draw circle, limited turnovers, and played solid defense. Offensively, eight different girls scored and 11 of 20 goals were assisted. Kirsten Hurr led the team with 4G and 13 draw controls, Maggie Schumm had 3G/2A,

Gabby Sell had 3G/1A, and Megan Bangs and Elle Riva each contributed 3G. Evelyn Bahm added 2G, Addie Lupinski had 1G/2A, and Emily Nurre ended with 1G/1A. Katie Halligan added to her GMC-leading assists total with five helpers on the night.  Sammy Berold had six saves in goal.

Next for Girls LAX (8-2, 6-1) is home match versus East on Tuesday, 4/21.


4/21 East won 14-9 10-2 7-1

The Mason Girls LAX team pushed their season record to 10-2, beating Lakota East at home, 14-9 on Tuesday. The Comets were led by Kirsten Hurr with 7 goals and 10 draw controls.  Elle Riva and Gabby Sell each added 2 goals, and Katie Halligan tallied 4 assists. Megan Bangs, Addie Lupinski, and Evelyn Bahm each contributed a goal.  Sammy Berold saved 5 shots in goal and was bolstered by a solid performance by the defense.

Mason (10-2, 7-1) will host Oak Hills on Thursday, 4/23.

4/23 Oak Hills won 19-1 11-2 8-1

The Comets beat Oak Hills in convincing fashion on Thursday’s Teacher Appreciation Night, 19-1. Offensively, nine different players scored, led by Gabby Sell with 4G/1A and 6 draw controls, and Kirsten Hurr with 4G and 9 draw controls.  Addie Lupinski added 2G/2A, Megan Bangs had 2G/1A, and Emily Nurre and Elle Riva each contributed 2G.

Evelyn Bahm, Mia Fischette, and Maggie Schumm each added a goal to the final tally.  Katie Halligan finished with 5 assists. The defense played outstanding, holding Oak Hills to four shots on goal and causing eight turnovers.

Mason Girls Lacrosse (11-2, 8-1) will visit Walnut Hills on Tuesday, 4/28.
